The 50 Commands of Christ

1 - Repent and believe Mark 1:15
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

2 - Follow Jesus Mark 1 :17
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me and I will make you become fishers of men.”

3 - Rejoice in persecution Matthew 5:11-12
“Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on My
account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were
before you.”

4 - Let your light shine Matthew 5:16
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory your Father who is in
heaven.”

5 - Honor God’s law Matthew 5:19
“Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the
kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

6 - Be reconciled Matthew 5:23-24
“So, if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave
your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

7 - Take sin seriously Matthew 5:29-30
“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members
than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away;
it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.”

8 - Keep your word Matthew 5:37
“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.”

9 - Go beyond what is fair Matthew 5:39-42
“But I say to you, do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other
also; and if anyone would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; and if anyone forces you to
go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to him who begs of you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from
you.”

10 - Love your enemies Matthew 5:44
“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,,,,”

11 - Grow into complete holiness Matthew 5:48
“You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

12 - Do not seek praise Matthew 6:1
“Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from
your Father who is in heaven.”

13 - Store up treasures in heaven Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal,
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume and where thieves do not break
in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

14 - Beware of covetousness Matthew 6:22-23
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is
not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great the darkness!”

15 - Do not worry Matthew 6:31-32
“Therefore, do not be anxious saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ Or ‘What shall we drink?’ Or ‘What shall we wear?’ For
the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

16 - Seek first His kingdom and righteousness Matthew 6:33
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.”

17 - Do not judge harshly Matthew 7:1-2
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgement you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you
give will be the measure you get.”

18 - Honor holy things and guard the gospel Matthew 7:6
“Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and
turn to attack you.”

19 - Persist in prayer Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks
receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

20 - The Golden Rule Matthew 7:12
“So, whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.”

21 - Enter through Christ alone Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by
it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

22 - Beware of false prophets Matthew 7:15
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”

23 - Pray for laborers in the Gospel Matthew 9:37-38
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the
harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

24 - Be wise and innocent Matthew 10:16
“Behold, I send you out as sheep, in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

25 - Fear God, not man Matthew 10:28
“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and
body in hell.”

26 - Make Jesus your first love Matthew 10:37-38
“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me
is not worthy of Me; and he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.”

27 - Respond to God’s word Matthew 11:15
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

28 - Bear the yoke of Christ Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from
Me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is
light.”

29 - Honor your parents Matthew 15:4-6
“For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him
surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or mother, What you would have gained from me is given to God,
he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition, you have made void the word of God.”

30 - Beware of false teaching Matthew 16:11-12
“How is it that you fail to perceive that I do not speak of bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the
Sadducees.” Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of
the Pharisees and Sadducees.

31 - Do not despise children Matthew 18:10
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you their angels always behold the face of my Father
who is in heaven.”

32 - Go to those who sin against you Matthew 18:15
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have
gained your brother.”

33 - Forgive those who sin against you Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came up and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many
as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.”

34 - Honor God’s design for marriage Matthew 19:4-6
He answered, “Have you not read that He who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said,
‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one
flesh’? So, they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.”

35 - Lead by being a servant Matthew 20:25-28
But Jesus called them to Him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great
men exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be
your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; even as the Son of Man came not to be
served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

36 - Ensure the church is a house of prayer Matthew 21:12-13
And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and He overturned the
tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house
shall be called a house of prayer’; but you have made it a den of robbers.”

37 - Pray in faith Matthew 21:22
“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

38 - Give every authority their due Matthew 22:21
Then He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.

39 - Love God completely Matthew 22:37-38
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your
mind. This is the great and first commandment.”

40 - Love your neighbor Matthew 22:39-40
“And a second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend all the
Law and the Prophets.”

41 - Await Christ’s return Matthew 24:42-44
“Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the householder had
known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be
broken into. Therefore, you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

42 - Honor Christ’s body and blood Matthew 26:26-28
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take,
eat; this is my body.” And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all
of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

43 - Be spiritually alert and pray Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

44 - Make and baptize disciples Matthew 28:19
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit…..”

45 - Teach disciples to obey Matthew 28:20
“…..teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

46 - Deny your rights to yourself Luke 9:23-24
And He said to all, “If any man would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow
Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for My sake, he will save it.”

47 - Invite and welcome the poor Luke 14: 12-14
He said to the man who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your
brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid. But when you give
a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you.
You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

48 - Be born again John 3:5-7
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of
God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to
you, ‘You must be born anew’.”

49 - Welcome the Holy Spirit through obedience John 14:15-17
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another
Counselor, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees
Him nor knows Him; you know Him, for He dwells with you, and will be in you.”

50 - Shepherd God’s people with care John 21:15-17
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than
these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” A second time
He said to him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He
said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was
grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know
everything; You know that I love You”. Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”
